Lighthouse Reef is one of 3 atolls off the
coast of Belize and outside the main reef. We anchored in 7’ of
absolutely clear water at Long Cay which is about ½ mile long and maybe
1/8 mile wide. It is inside the reef system for Lighthouse reef. The
area we anchored in was abundant with coral heads, many of which came to
within a few feet of the surface of the water so navigating thru them
was a slow and careful process. The plus side (which was way on the plus
side) was that not 50’ from Namaste’ we snorkeled in water full of
tropical fish and every kind of coral you can imagine. The anchorage was
a little bit rolly but the holding was excellent.

We have been watching the weather and are
following the storm called “Adrean” in the Pacific. It’s rare that a
storm could make it from the Pacific across mountains (as it was rare
that the West coast of Florida would get 4 storms in one season) and
into the Caribbean, but we are leaving here today to go find a hole just
in case it does.
