  Yucatan  26 December 2004

The wind from the last front remained above 25ks and the Harbor stayed quite rough so we moved our “progressive dinner “ toSanta Christmas 2004 off Isla today. Also, Cheri had re-injured her foot and every one agreed to just come over to Namaste’ to do the dinner. Paul and Mary Margaret (s/v Angleheart) and Jack and Bonnie (s/v Vila Narcoses) came over in the afternoon and we all enjoyed steaks by Jack, Risotto rice by Cheri and me and dessert by Paul, Mary Margaret and Hershey’s.

31 December 2004

About 4pm, 20 cruisers gathered on the beach for a pre-New years Eve party. Several of us brought propane grills and we wound up grilling lobster, fish, chicken, shrimp, etc. The party broke up about 8pm and everyone went their separate ways.

New Years Eve  We went into town to see the displays and the Festival in the town square. We had left the dingy at Minios and as we walked past the restaurant Martin (theSandy & Cheri New Years Eve owner) invited us to be back at 11pm to join his party. We got back at that time and the party turned out to be just for his family and his employees of the restaurant and fishing fleet. He had set up an extra table at the end of the banquet table just for us (including our bar!). We enjoyed a fabulous feast of Pork, lobster (I am still not tired of it!) fruit, pasta and desserts. We had an absolute blast celebrating the New Year (until 3am!)  with these wonderful people. After it was all over, Cheri and I agreed this was one of those “once in a lifetime” experiences!

5 January

Went to a neat Art Exhibit last night at a local restaurant called Mananas. Had a chance to spend a good deal of time with the artist Jess Zimmerman and his family, who does some great still life of business' from around the Island.

8 JanuaryJack & Bonnie

We made the decision today to rent a golf cart to see the rest of the Island and had a lot of fun driving all over the town to at least help us make a list of the things we wanted to go back and spend some more time exploring. We made quite a long list and we hope we get to go back and see it all. The East side of the Island (it overlooks the Caribbean sea) was very spectacular.

10 January thru 21 JanuaryTrip to Texas

Made a quick trip to see Cheri’s Mom and Dad, Sammy, some close friends, Chris and Keri and the grand boys and then up to Dallas to seeTrip to Dallas Cat and Rob. We squeezed in a couple of days shopping for boat parts and a way too quick a trip to see our webmaster (Eric) who helped us among other things get the stuff shipped back to Isla. Mujeres.

22 January

Upon returning from the States, we were very excited to find Hal,(s/v Griffin) our friends from Port Aransas (Lynn had flown home for the delivery of her grandbaby. So we hooked up with her after Vera Cruz, Mexico.) and also John and Lisa (s/v XX KISS, KISS) from New Zealand.

31 JanuaryCarnival

Carnival Veracruz We are leaving this week to do a trip to Veracruz. There is a very big Carnival there starting this weekend and we will be gone for about a week. When we get back we plan to work on the boat for about a week of so, then head South towards Belize.
